Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Musicalis (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our web-based platform (“the Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Account information — your name and email address when you register.
  • User content — hymn scores, PDF files, music plans, and other content you upload or create.
  • Musician information — names of cantors, accompanists, and other musicians you add to your account.
  • Payment information — billing details processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers.
  • Communications — messages you send us via the Contact page or by email.

Information collected automatically:

  • Log data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps.
  • Cookies — a secure authentication cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • Send transactional emails such as email verification and password resets.
  • Respond to your support requests and feedback.
  • Monitor and improve the performance and security of the Service.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your content or personal data to train AI or machine learning models.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers — we use trusted vendors to operate the Service, including Stripe (payments) and our hosting provider. These parties are contractually bound to protect your data.
  • Plan sharing— when you share a music plan via a link or invite, the plan’s content (hymns, schedule, musician names) becomes visible to anyone with access to that link. You control who you share with.
  • Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. To request account deletion, contact us at info@musicalis.org. We will delete your personal information within 30 days of your request, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.

5. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and secure, HTTP-only authentication cookies. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@musicalis.org or via the Contact page.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

6a. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights regarding your personal information:

  • The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell.
  • The right to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA rights.

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising or any other commercial purpose. To exercise your rights, contact us at info@musicalis.org.

7. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie (“auth-token”) to keep you signed in to your account. This cookie is strictly necessary for the Service to function and does not require your consent under any applicable law. We do not use advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking cookies.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so will prevent you from staying signed in to the Service.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
